The embossing and chisel irons
Share
Among the tools used for embossing and chiselling are the chisel irons or amicably "chisels", small "magic" steel rods that the goldsmith's apprentice sorcerer uses to transform a flat metal plate into a precious object.

Each chisel has a different name that derives from the particular shape of its tip: profile, nail, ball, toggle, stud, flatbed, shagreen, bead, U-bolt….

Each of them has a precise task; Some trace lines and contours, others with the convex oval tip emboss and chisel, or those with the tip worked with different "knurls" create particular finishes.
Each chisel iron was born to carry out a trade and will do so throughout its working career.. leaving a unique and indelible mark every time.
